A 45 minute drive south of Margret River is the small town of Augusta. There isn’t a whole lot to do here apart from visit the lighthouse. This is where the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park finishes. And where the Southern and Indian Ocean meet.
Half way between Margret River and Augusta is Hamelin Bay. If you are going to go anywhere whilst in Margret River it has to be Hamelin Bay! Here you get to interact with wild Sting Rays. They come right into the shallows on the beach. You can stroke them, watch them and get awesome shots on your gopro. It is probably one of the best experiences that I’ve had in Australia so far. Plus the beach itself is amazing so I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
A similar vibe to that of Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. As these two lighthouses connect the coastal trail through the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park you have to visit both. The lighthouse here tells some amazing stories from the early days when Australia was discovered by the first settlers.
